This is a revised edition of Thinking and Talking about Japan, a book that allows beginners to learn about modern Japan. It has been 14 years since the last revision, and the situation in Japan has changed significantly in that time. In this edition, we have revised the information mainly in Part 1, "Lifestyle" and Part 3, "Society", and changed the content to allow students to learn about Japan's current situation.

Each section engages in a variety of activities, such as “Let's write”, “Do you know?'', “Let's think”, and “Let's talk”. We use many illustrations and photos so that even beginners can visualize life in Japan, allowing them to learn while having fun talking about the themes with their teachers and classmates. The estimated study time is approximately 60 hours.

This book is a teaching material for everyone who wants to know about life in Japan, regardless of their purpose or position, such as going onto higher education or finding a job. This book is also recommended for Japanese language learners living overseas who think, “I want to live in Japan someday” or “I don't have any plans to live there, but I want to know more about Japan.”
