This book is designed for Japanese language learners aiming to take Level 3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. It enables them to improve their proficiency in Japanese easily and with certainty by revising basic grammar and sentence patterns.

This book consists of 7 Parts: in Parts I to V, the grammatical items or structures are arranged according to the verb conjugation found in the sentence pattern or its function; Part VI explains particles; and Part VII other grammatical points. Each grammatical structure is numbered (1〜120) for easy reference.

In the process of selecting the grammatical structures, past test questions (especially those after 1995) were analyzed and classified according to mainly Level 3 grammar and expression patterns (sometimes Level 4 materials were also included) as listed in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test: Test Content Specifications. The classification chosen facilitates item recognition with all important items being covered in this book.
